Tersoo Kula, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Makurdi, emphasizing that the funds would be used to revamp critical infrastructure and improve the well-being of residents.

According to Kula, N1.5 billion has been allocated for the immediate settlement of outstanding payments to CGC, a Chinese firm responsible for constructing the Otobi/Otukpo and Katsina-Ala Water Works nearly a decade ago.

He added that the Ministry of Water Resources, Environment, and Climate Change has been instructed to engage CGC for the rehabilitation of these facilities to restore water supply in Otobi, Otukpo, and surrounding areas.

Among the major projects approved are the extension and dualization of the Wurukum-Airforce Base Road, the reconstruction of the state assembly complex and clinic, the rehabilitation of the deputy governor’s lodge, and the upgrade of the Mbawuar to Bako-Negher and Spur to Mbaakon Road.

The dualization of the Wurukum-Airforce Base Road, valued at N68.3 billion, is expected to enhance transportation and stimulate economic activities. Additionally, a five-span bridge at Mu will be constructed by M/S Bahaus Global Investment Nigeria Ltd.

The Mbawuar to Bako-Negher and Spur to Mbaakon Road upgrade, costing N73.9 billion, is set to improve road safety and reduce travel time for commuters.

The deputy governor’s lodge will also undergo renovation at a cost of N1.1 billion to create a more conducive working environment.

Furthermore, the state assembly complex and clinic will be reconstructed at a cost of N4.5 billion, a project to be executed by Gerewa Global Engineering Ltd., ensuring modern facilities for lawmakers and staff.

In addition, Kula revealed that the council received approval from the Federal Government to establish an infectious disease control center in Vandeikya Local Government Area, following a request from Governor Alia to address the increasing cases of infectious diseases in the state.
