Security operatives in Kano State have arrested 10 individuals suspected of involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery, recovering N4.85 million in ransom money, firearms, and ammunition.

The arrests were made as part of a statewide crackdown ordered by Inspector-General of Police Dr Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun to enhance security efforts.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, who assumed office on March 17, 2025, intensified intelligence and tactical operations to combat crime.

One of the victims rescued was 21-year-old Muhammad Bello, who was abducted in Zakirai Town on March 8.

His kidnappers had demanded N15 million, but a police task force led by CSP Bala Shuaibu tracked them down, arresting five suspects between March 11 and March 18.

Officers recovered a Dane gun and a portion of the ransom money.
In a separate incident, police arrested two armed robbery suspects, Awwal Hassan Ibrahim and Suleiman Umar, in Badawa Layout.

A Beretta pistol with live ammunition was seized from them.

Additionally, officers intercepted a suspect, Shuaibu Yakubu, in a red Pontiac Vibe, discovering an AK-47 rifle with 12 rounds of ammunition.

All suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue. CP Bakori assured the public of the force’s commitment to eradicating crime in Kano.
