Gunmen kidnap FRSC officer in Benue

Must read

The Benue State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the abduction of one of its officers, Nathaniel Kumashe, by unidentified gunmen.

The command’s spokesperson, Ngozi Ahula, disclosed the incident on Thursday in Makurdi. According to Ahula, Kumashe, who serves in Wannue, Tarka Local Government Area (LGA), was kidnapped around 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

She explained that the officer was taken from his residence in Tse Aboh, Uchi-Mbakor, Tarka LGA, shortly after returning from his late cousin’s wake.

Armed men reportedly stormed the area, firing shots to scare his family members and neighbors before whisking him away.

In response, community youths immediately launched a search operation that lasted through the night, but the kidnappers had already fled. Security operatives, including personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), also joined efforts to locate the victim.

Sources suggest that the abductors may have moved Kumashe to a hideout in Guma LGA, a neighboring area known for previous incidents of abductions. Security agencies are continuing their search for the missing officer.
