FG okays NYSC mobilisation for full-time HND graduates

The federal government has approved the mobilisation of full-time Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), addressing a long-standing issue that previously excluded them from the scheme.

The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, made this announcement in a statement released on Thursday by the ministry’s director of press and public relations, Folasade Boriowo.

According to the statement, the decision followed discussions with the NYSC director-general, confirming that only those who completed a full-time HND programme would be eligible for mobilisation.

Alausa described this development as a significant milestone in ensuring fairness and inclusivity within the education system.

However, he clarified that part-time HND graduates would remain ineligible for NYSC participation.

To ensure a smooth mobilisation process, the minister directed the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to fast-track the collation of data for qualified graduates.

A circular has also been sent to all polytechnic rectors, instructing them to upload the required information onto a newly established HND admission portal.

The minister emphasized that the portal would serve as an official database for NYSC mobilisation, helping to resolve previous challenges related to admission records.

He urged all eligible full-time HND graduates to take advantage of this opportunity and complete their mobilisation process promptly.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to equal opportunities, Alausa stated that the inclusion of HND graduates in the NYSC programme would enable them to contribute meaningfully to national development.
