Armed assailants have killed Muhammad Adamu, the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack occurred on Wednesday night at his residence, shortly after he had broken his fast.
Confirming the incident, the Plateau State MACBAN chairman, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, condemned the killing and urged security agencies to conduct a full investigation to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
A community youth leader, Alhaji Danjuma Ibrahim, also confirmed Adamu’s death, stating that his remains had been taken to Barkin Ladi General Hospital in preparation for burial on Thursday.
Danjuma disclosed that Adamu had previously survived two assassination attempts before the fatal attack.
“The gunmen shot him multiple times and fled the scene.
“His body had several bullet wounds. Security personnel, including police and soldiers, arrived swiftly, and we were with them at the hospital when he was taken in,” he said.
Expressing his sorrow, Danjuma described the attack as a huge loss to the community, emphasizing Adamu’s crucial role in fostering peace in Barkin Ladi.
“His efforts in maintaining harmony will be deeply missed,” he added.
As of now, the Plateau State Police spokesperson, DSP Alabo Alfred, has not responded to inquiries about the incident.
