Nigerian Army troops under Operation Fansan Yamma have successfully dismantled terrorist hideouts, neutralizing 10 insurgents and rescuing 101 kidnapped victims in Katsina and Zamfara states.
The success was announced by Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, in a statement issued on Wednesday.
He explained that the operations, conducted between March 17 and 18, 2025, were carried out in partnership with the Air Component of the Joint Task Force.
In Katsina, troops stormed a terrorist stronghold at Pauwa High Ground in Kankara LGA.
The assault resulted in the elimination of three terrorists and the liberation of 84 abducted persons, who were later handed over to local government authorities.
Meanwhile, in Zamfara, military forces acted on intelligence regarding terrorist movements in the Bagabuzu area of Faru District, Maradun LGA. Seven terrorists were neutralized in the raid, with a motorcycle and other materials recovered.
Further operations led to the rescue of 17 captives from Tsibiri and Doka villages in Shinkafi LGA. The victims are receiving medical care at a hospital.
Lt. Col. Abdullahi reaffirmed the military’s commitment to safeguarding communities in the region and called on the public to continue supporting security efforts.
He stressed that collaboration between security forces and local residents remains critical in the fight against terrorism.
