The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has successfully rescued a kidnapped Burkina Faso national, Sambo Umar Labibo, and taken three suspects into custody in connection with the abduction.
According to intelligence sources, Labibo was kidnapped on Friday, March 14, 2025, with his captors demanding a ransom for his release.
Acting on credible information, a team of detectives led by an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) tracked the suspects to the Durumi IDP Camp.
Disguising their approach as a ransom drop-off, the officers arranged a meeting at the Conoil Filling Station in Area 1, where they apprehended the alleged kidnappers.
The suspects—identified as Ibrahim Umar, Hamza Buba, and Muktar Mohammed, all residents of the IDP camp—later led law enforcement to the location where Labibo was being held. He was successfully freed, albeit with facial injuries.
Authorities from the FCT Police Command have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify and capture any additional accomplices involved in the crime.
