ISWAP militants execute three Nigerian soldiers in Yobe

Must read

A faction of Boko Haram known as the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) has released a video showing the execution of three Nigerian soldiers.

A segment of the footage reviewed by media outlets captures the moment the armed insurgents carried out the execution.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred on March 15, 2025, in Yobe State, northern Nigeria.

The soldiers were said to have been seized in the Kamuya and Azare regions before being put to death.

The video allegedly shows the captives kneeling in an open field, where they reveal their identities as members of the Nigerian security forces.

Moments later, masked gunmen dressed in military gear execute them.

Since the demise of Abubakar Shekau, the former leader of the Boko Haram faction Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati Wal-Jihad (JAS), ISWAP has expanded its operations around the Lake Chad area.

The group has grown significantly as many of Shekau’s followers have joined its ranks.

Despite the ongoing threat, the Nigerian military continues to insist that insurgents have been largely contained, often downplaying reports of casualties.

Boko Haram and its splinter groups, including ISWAP, have been linked to over 100,000 deaths and the displacement of millions, particularly in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states.
