Fuel tanker crash triggers explosions in Abuja, destroys multiple vehicles

Must read

A fuel tanker lost control and crashed near Karu Bridge, close to Nyanya in Abuja, sparking a massive fire and multiple explosions that sent shockwaves through the area.

Eyewitnesses recounted the terrifying moment when the tanker, reportedly experiencing brake failure, plowed into several vehicles before bursting into flames.

The impact triggered a chain reaction of explosions, scattering debris and causing widespread panic.

According to preliminary reports, the tanker was transporting both liquid fuel and compressed natural gas (CNG) cylinders, which intensified the blasts.

Fireballs and shrapnel were propelled hundreds of meters into the sky, with some debris landing nearly a kilometer away.

“The tanker was speeding and swerving before it crashed. Within seconds, there was a huge explosion, and everything was on fire,” a survivor recalled.

Rescue teams, including firefighters and medical personnel, rushed to the scene to control the blaze and assist victims.

However, the severity of the explosions has raised concerns about significant casualties, though officials have yet to provide confirmed figures.

The incident also caused extensive damage to nearby buildings and vehicles, while authorities launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
