Akure, the Ondo State capital, is in turmoil as protesters have besieged the Governor’s Office in Alagbaka, expressing outrage over the killing of five farmers by suspected armed herdsmen within the past 24 hours.
The attack reportedly took place in Aba Oyinbo, Akure North Local Government Area, where the victims were shot dead during an invasion by the assailants.
Carrying the bodies of the deceased, the protesters demanded urgent intervention from the state government to address the escalating security crisis.
This latest incident comes just two weeks after a similar attack in the same local government area, where about 20 farmers were killed across multiple farm settlements.
