The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 66 senior officers within the Nigeria Police Force.
The announcement was made in Abuja on Monday, confirming advancements across various ranks.
As part of the promotion, 20 Commissioners of Police (CPs) have been elevated to the position of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).
Additionally, 19 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) have been promoted to CP, while 13 Superintendents of Police (SPs) have advanced to Chief Superintendents of Police (CSP). Furthermore, 14 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) have been elevated to the rank of SP.
Some of the officers on the promotion list include Fasuba Olabode, Musibau Ajani, Aliyu Musa, Patrick Atayero, and Gyogon Grimah. Others include Olaiya Mobolaji, Chukwudi Ariekpere, Abubakar Aliyu, Olalolu Adegbite, Godwin Eze, Disu Olatunji, and Alausa Tolani, among others.
Prior to their promotions, all candidates underwent examinations and interactive interviews conducted by the commission.
The process was supervised by PSC Chairman Hashimu Argungu alongside other commission members.
This promotion exercise is aimed at strengthening leadership within the Nigeria Police Force by recognizing officers who have exhibited professionalism, dedication, and competence in their duties.
