Police arrest female gunrunner, recover ammunition hidden in palm oil can

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities, leading to the arrest of a female arms smuggler and multiple drug traffickers supplying bandits and insurgents.

On December 23, 2024, at about 5:50 PM, operatives of the Force Intelligence Department-Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS) intercepted 30-year-old Hauwa Sani along the Keffi/Abuja Expressway.

Sani, a resident of Doro village, was found with 124 rounds of live ammunition concealed inside a 5-litre container of palm oil.

According to Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Sani confessed that a man identified as Nasiru of Daura had instructed her to deliver the ammunition to Katsina State.

“The investigation has already led to several other recoveries and arrests, and profiling is ongoing,” ACP Adejobi said.

The police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
