Lagos Judiciary declares one-week easter break for workers

Must read

The Lagos State Judiciary has approved a one-week holiday for its workers in celebration of the 2025 Easter vacation.

This was announced in a statement issued on Sunday by Tajudeen Elias, the Acting Chief Registrar. According to the statement, Chief Judge Kazeem Alogba approved the break, which will run from April 18 to April 25, with judicial workers expected to resume duties on April 28.

The statement also outlined how urgent cases will be handled during the break. Judges will preside over emergency applications related to cases already assigned to them.

If an urgent matter has not yet been assigned, it will be handled by a judge specifically designated for that purpose.

Furthermore, the judiciary cited Order 49, Rule 4, which permits a judge to hear urgent cases during the break, provided that the conditions outlined in Order 49, Rule 5, are met.
