The Kwara State Government has revoked all 2024 signage and billboard licences with immediate effect.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by Ibrahim Garba, Secretary of the Task Force Committee on Illegal Billboards and Signage.
Garba explained that the decision follows an earlier suspension of billboard licences in the state. He noted that an identification process is currently underway, with enforcement for removal set to begin on March 17.
He emphasized that the revocation aims to clear unauthorized and improperly installed billboards, posters, and light pole banners across Ilorin and other urban areas.
According to him, the initiative aligns with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s urban renewal programme, which seeks to enhance the state’s aesthetics and modernize its infrastructure.
During this period, no new billboard registrations or licence renewals will be processed until further notice, as the state finalizes a new regulatory framework for outdoor advertising.
Garba urged billboard owners to remove any unregistered structures immediately, warning that the government task force is already identifying non-compliant billboards, with enforcement set to begin next week.
