A coordinated security operation in Katsina State successfully prevented a planned bandit attack on Dan Takuri village in Danmusa Local Government Area.
The operation involved the Katsina State Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC).
Acting on intelligence provided by DSS operatives, security forces launched the mission on March 15 at around 12:30 p.m. under the leadership of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Danmusa.
Reports indicated that armed bandits were gathering at Maijele Mountain, preparing for an assault on the village.
Upon arrival, the security team confronted the armed group, leading to an intense exchange of gunfire.
According to the Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), one bandit was neutralized, while several others fled with gunshot wounds.
The operation’s success was attributed to the superior firepower of the security forces.
A search of the area resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle with three rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, an unregistered red Boxer motorcycle, 50 wraps of suspected Indian hemp, 32 bottles of soft drinks, a cutlass, and various dangerous drugs.
The police urged residents to remain alert and report anyone with gunshot wounds to the nearest security outpost.
Meanwhile, Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, praised the swift action of the security personnel and assured that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
