Security operatives in Abia and Nasarawa states have successfully neutralized seven suspected kidnappers and rescued four abducted individuals in separate operations.

According to the Nigeria Police Force, the raids led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, six magazines, and thirty-four rounds of live ammunition.

The rescued victims were immediately taken to the police hospital for medical care.

Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Sunday, said the coordinated efforts were part of the police’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and firearm-related crimes.

The Abia State Police Command received reports of four individuals kidnapped on March 9, 2025, along New Umuahia Road, Obingwa. Acting on intelligence, tactical teams stormed a hideout in Osokwa, Osisioma LGA, on March 14.

A gun battle ensued, leading to the neutralization of six kidnappers, while all victims were rescued unharmed.

In a similar operation, security operatives in Nasarawa, working alongside the Nigerian Army and local vigilantes, confronted a wanted kidnapper known as Abdullahi, alias “Honor,” in Akwanga.

The suspect, who attempted to escape on a motorcycle near Akwanga Central Mosque, was intercepted and fatally subdued.

A Beretta pistol and twelve rounds of live ammunition were recovered from him.

Another accomplice fled with gunshot wounds, and a manhunt is ongoing.

Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun commended the officers for their professionalism and urged continued efforts to eradicate criminal activities nationwide.

He warned criminals to desist from unlawful activities or face firm law enforcement action.
