With the help of a private security officer, the wounded inspector was quickly taken to Ota General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
His firearm has been recovered, and his body has been deposited for an autopsy.
The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered a detailed investigation to determine if there were any underlying factors, including possible foul play or mental health concerns.
The police have contacted the deceased officer’s family, and the case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran for further inquiries.
