The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, is scheduled to appear before a new judge on March 21, 2025, at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
According to the Daily Post, Justice James Omotosho has been assigned to handle the case, marking a fresh phase in Kanu’s legal battle.
His lead counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, confirmed that the legal team is fully prepared for the proceedings.
However, Ejimakor revealed that they have yet to receive the specific charges Kanu will face. This development follows Kanu’s previous objection to Justice Binta Nyako presiding over his case, leading to her temporary recusal—a decision later overturned by the Chief Judge.
In December, Justice Nyako indefinitely adjourned the case, prompting Kanu to refuse further court appearances until a new judge was appointed.
Ejimakor emphasized that the case is essentially starting anew, with all prior legal proceedings, including pending appeals, rendered void.
He expressed concern over the government’s pattern of serving charges at the last minute, often leaving the defence little time to prepare.
