Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has taken legal steps against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, accusing him of contempt of court following her suspension from the Senate for six months.
The case, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, also names the Clerk of the National Assembly and Senator Neda Imasuem, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct, as respondents.
AFRIPOST gathered that Akpoti-Uduaghan argues that the Senate’s decision to suspend her disregarded an existing court injunction issued on March 4, which prohibited any disciplinary actions against her.
A court notice, signed by the Registrar in line with Section 72 of the Sheriff and Civil Process Act 2004, cautioned that Akpabio and the other respondents risk contempt charges, which could lead to imprisonment.
As per documents reviewed by Vanguard, the court had officially served the injunction to the
