Suspected ISWAP IED attack injures three police officers in Borno

A landmine explosion suspected to have been orchestrated by ISWAP militants injured three police officers on the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway.

The incident took place around 3:00 PM near Garin Kuturu village, between Auno and Jakana, as a police patrol team carried out its routine operation.

Reports indicate that the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated upon contact, severely damaging the patrol vehicle and creating a deep crater.

A bomb disposal squad was deployed to secure the area and check for additional explosives. However, no other threats were found, and the road was deemed safe.

The injured officers received medical attention at Borno State Specialist Hospital and were later discharged.
