Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, was on Wednesday prevented from presenting the 2025 budget to the State House of Assembly.
As reported by Politics Nigeria, the budget presentation was scheduled before the Assembly, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, following a recent Supreme Court ruling that mandated the proper approval of the state budget before federal allocations could be disbursed.
However, upon his arrival at the Assembly complex, Governor Fubara was denied entry, effectively blocking him from laying the budget before the lawmakers.
Addressing journalists outside the premises, Fubara stated that his intention was to present the budget in the best interest of Rivers State residents.
He also revealed that he had previously communicated with the Speaker both in writing and over the phone before making his way to the Assembly.
