The assault, carried out by Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) insurgents, occurred on Sunday evening.

Riding on motorcycles, the armed group stormed Warja, a village located between Sabon Gari and Damboa, where they overpowered the military base.

During the raid, the attackers killed multiple soldiers, set fire to military vehicles and equipment, and looted ammunition.

A security source revealed that the insurgents destroyed several armoured vehicles, including tanks and personnel carriers.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama also reported that multiple operational vehicles were burned, and a significant cache of weapons was seized by the assailants.
