Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has alleged that the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, is deliberately avoiding him.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, March 12, at the entrance of the Assembly quarters, where he was denied access, Fubara stated that multiple attempts to reach the Speaker had been unsuccessful.
The governor, accompanied by key government officials, including Secretary to the State Government Tammy Danagogo and Chief of Staff Edison Ehie, arrived at the Assembly complex but found the gates locked, preventing them from entering.
“Before coming here, I made several efforts to speak with the Speaker. I also sent a formal letter regarding this invitation,” Fubara said. “Unfortunately, as you can see, the gates are locked, and there is no indication that anything will take place today.”
He emphasized that his actions were in the best interest of the people of Rivers State, whom he had pledged to serve.
“The reason we are doing this is for the benefit of our people, which remains the priority. There is nothing to be concerned about. I hope to hear from them after today,” he added.
