Gas tanker explosion at Otedola bridge leaves one dead, four injured

A gas tanker explosion at Otedola Bridge in Lagos has resulted in the death of one person, while four others sustained injuries.

AFRIPOST had reported the incident on Tuesday night. The explosion, however, destroyed 14 vehicles.

The Lagos coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the explosion in a statement, noting that it happened around 8:30 p.m.

According to Farinloye, the blast impacted a storey building and four shops in the area, causing significant damage.

The explosion was triggered when a fully loaded gas tanker lost control and overturned while attempting to merge onto the expressway from Otedola Estate Road.

Emergency responders have since been deployed to manage the situation.
