BREAKING: Fubara reaffirms commitment to 2025 budget re-presentation amid Assembly standoff

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has reiterated his willingness to re-submit the 2025 budget to the State House of Assembly once the lawmakers are ready to accept it.

Fubara made this statement on Wednesday while commissioning health facilities in Khana Local Government Area.

His remarks came shortly after he was denied entry into the Assembly quarters, despite prior notification to Speaker Martins Amaewhule about his visit.

Expressing his dissatisfaction with the situation, Fubara maintained that he remains open to resolving the matter whenever the lawmakers receive further instructions.

“If they are instructed later, I am still prepared to come any day to sort out this issue,” he stated.

AFRIPOST had initially reported that in a dramatic turn of events, Governor Siminalayi Fubara was prevented from entering the official residence of the Rivers State House of Assembly on Aba Road, Port Harcourt, where lawmakers aligned with former Governor Nyesom Wike have been holding sessions.

The governor, accompanied by high-ranking officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo, and Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, arrived at the premises only to find the gates locked, effectively barring their entry.

Speaking to reporters at the scene, Fubara accused Speaker Martins Amaewhule of deliberately evading him, revealing that multiple attempts to contact the lawmaker via phone calls had gone unanswered.
