Tinubu appoints new heads for NABTEB, UBEC, education agencies

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved key leadership appointments in Nigeria’s education sector, naming Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Aminu as the new Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB).

Dr. Aminu, an expert in Automobile Technology with a Ph.D. in the field and a Master’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, brings nearly 30 years of experience in education, research, administration, and policy-making.

Before this appointment, he served as the Director of Procurement at the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).

A strong advocate for vocational training and youth empowerment, Dr. Aminu has made significant contributions to research on innovative teaching methods and poverty reduction.

President Tinubu tasked him with strengthening NABTEB’s role in certifying skilled professionals crucial for Nigeria’s industrial development.

In addition, Tinubu appointed Idris Olorunnimbe as Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Board. Olorunnimbe, who leads The Temple Company as its Group CEO, has extensive experience in education, entertainment, and sports.

He previously served on the board of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), where he played a key role in youth employment programs.

Other appointments at UBEC include Rasaq Olajuwon as Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical) and Tunde Ajibulu as Deputy Executive Secretary (Services).

Olajuwon, formerly the Director of Administration and Human Resources at the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA), brings a wealth of experience in governance and administration.

Meanwhile, Ajibulu, a Fellow of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), serves as a Director at Tangent Construction Nigeria Limited and is a Partner at Covenant Consultancy Services.
