Police confirm 11 killed by bandits in Kebbi community

The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed that 11 people were killed in coordinated attacks carried out by suspected bandits in several villages within Arewa Local Government Area.

According to a statement released on Monday by the command’s spokesperson, Nafi’u Abubakar, the attacks occurred on March 9, 2025, at around 8:47 p.m. when armed assailants, believed to be Lakurawa bandits, stormed Dogon Daji, Danmarke, Yar Goru, Tambo, Birnin Debi, Garin Nagoro, and Garin Rugga.

These villages are located near the Nigeria-Niger Republic border.

The attack resulted in the deaths of 11 people, while two others sustained gunshot wounds. Several houses in the affected villages were also set ablaze by the attackers.

Upon receiving the report, Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, immediately visited the scene for an assessment.

He condemned the attack and swiftly reinforced security measures by deploying additional tactical teams to the area.

He also held a meeting with key stakeholders, offering condolences to the affected communities and urging them to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely information to aid their response efforts.
