Ondo govt dismisses herdsmen attack rumors, warns against fake news

The Ondo State Government has refuted claims circulating on social media about an alleged attack by armed herdsmen in some communities, calling it “completely false” and an attempt to spread fear among residents.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters, Chief Olugbenga Atiba, described the reports of farmers being killed as mere fabrications meant to create panic and disrupt the peace in the state.

“We once again urge those behind this misinformation to stop spreading falsehoods that could incite chaos, distrust, and division between the people and the government,” Atiba stated.

He reassured residents that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa remains committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property throughout the state.

“The Ondo State Government prioritizes the security of all its residents. People should go about their daily activities without fear, as the government has put in place measures to maintain peace and order,” he added.

The government also advised the public to verify information before sharing it to prevent unnecessary panic and tension.
