Troops eliminate notorious bandit leader ‘Yellow Aboki’ in Zamfara

A notorious bandit leader known as ‘Yellow Aboki,’ a close associate of the late terror kingpin Hassan Bamamu, has been killed by troops conducting clearance operations in Zamfara State.

According to security sources, Yellow Aboki was neutralized during a recent military operation by troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA in the northwestern part of Tsafe Local Government Area.

His death comes weeks after the military successfully eliminated Hassan Dantawaye, also known as Bamamu, a feared bandit commander and one of his closest allies.

Following Bamamu’s demise, Yellow Aboki had been consolidating his influence over criminal operations in Zamfara, orchestrating attacks and kidnappings across areas such as Bamamu, Dan Mali, Agamalafiya, and Makera.

The military has continued its offensive against key bandit leaders, targeting their strongholds in Zamfara, Sokoto, and other volatile areas in the North West.

The sustained pressure has weakened the bandits’ ability to engage in direct confrontations with security forces, forcing them to resort to sporadic attacks on vulnerable communities with limited security presence.
