Suspected Boko Haram insurgents kill vigilante member in Yobe attack

Suspected Boko Haram militants launched an attack on Gujba Town in Yobe State, resulting in the death of a 32-year-old vigilante group member.

The Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje, confirmed the incident in a statement on his verified Facebook page on Monday.

According to Goje, the attack occurred around 1:00 AM on March 8, 2025. An assessment by SEMA revealed that 14 households, consisting of about 57 individuals, were directly impacted.

The assault also led to the destruction of 12 blocks of rooms and eight shops, many of which belonged to local business owners and vigilante members.

Governor Mai Mala Buni expressed his condolences to the victims and assured them of government support, including relief materials and enhanced security measures to safeguard the community.
