A fire erupted early Monday morning at the premises of Geometric Power, the company operating Aba Power, Nigeria’s newest electricity distribution firm.
In a statement, the management of Geometric Power confirmed the incident, explaining that the fire occurred in a temporary structure within its facility in the Osisioma Industrial Layout, Aba, Abia State.
According to the company, the affected building was previously used by a now-defunct South African electricity firm, Group 5, during the construction of the integrated power facility. The structure had remained largely unused for over 12 years.
While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, the management noted that its staff successfully controlled the flames before the Abia State Fire Service arrived.
The fire service responded swiftly to the emergency call and assisted in fully extinguishing the blaze.
Geometric Power commended its employees for their quick action and bravery in handling the situation and praised the fire service for its prompt and professional response.
The company also expressed gratitude to the public for their concern and support.
