The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that 2,030,627 candidates registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), marking the highest number in the history of the exam.

According to JAMB’s weekly bulletin released on Monday, the registration process officially closed on March 8. In comparison, over 1.9 million candidates registered for the 2024 UTME, excluding those taking the exam at foreign centers.

Additionally, 200,115 candidates opted to participate in the mock UTME, scheduled for April 5, 2025.

JAMB also highlighted the introduction of new security measures to curb examination malpractice and uphold the credibility of the exam. These efforts have already resulted in the arrest of multiple candidates caught using forged A-level certificates to gain admission.

The board urged all candidates to comply with the examination guidelines and warned against any form of misconduct.
