A Joint Security Force led by the police launched a successful ambush against armed bandits in the Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area of Katsina State on Sunday night, eliminating several insurgents, including two notorious leaders, Yusuf Gwamna and Malam Ashiru.
Bakatsine, who revealed the development on his Twitter page, stated that the operation was a major breakthrough in the fight against banditry in the region.
“Joint Security Force, led by the police, ambushed bandits in Dutsin-Ma LGA last night.
Several of them were neutralized, including Yusuf Gwamna and Malam Ashiru, who had been terrorizing Dutsin-Ma, Danmusa, and Matazu LGAs,” Bakatsine wrote.
A security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the success of the operation.
“This is a significant victory. These men were responsible for multiple attacks, killings, and kidnappings. Their elimination will send a strong message to others,” he said.
Residents of affected areas expressed relief over the news, urging security agencies to sustain the momentum.
“We hope this is just the beginning. We’ve suffered too much from these criminals,” said a local from Dutsin-Ma.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the operation.
