The Edo State Police Command has apprehended a 27-year-old man found with a fresh human head in the Evbuotubu area of Benin City.
Confirming the arrest, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, stated that the suspect was taken into custody during a joint operation by officers from the Evbuotubu Division and local vigilantes in the early hours of Friday.
During questioning, the suspect led officers to a headless body discovered near Eweka Shopping Plaza. The victim was later identified as 43-year-old Edobor Lawrence, a resident of Osagie Street in Evbuotubu Quarters.
According to Yamu, the deceased’s remains have been moved to a hospital for preservation as investigations continue. The state Commissioner of Police, Betty Otimenyin, expressed sympathy to the victim’s family and assured the public that those responsible would face justice.
She also urged young people to pursue lawful means of livelihood and called on residents to remain vigilant, emphasizing the command’s dedication to maintaining security in the state.
