The political crisis in Rivers State has taken another turn as Governor Siminalayi Fubara has invited the Amaewhule-led faction of the State House of Assembly for a meeting.
The invitation was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday in Port Harcourt by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo.
The letter, addressed to the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, was titled “Meeting Between the Governor of Rivers State and the Honourable Members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.”
Danagogo stated that the meeting, scheduled for Monday, March 10, 2025, became necessary following the Governor’s receipt of the Certified True Copy of the Supreme Court judgment.
Discussions will focus on providing a suitable space for the lawmakers to hold their sittings, addressing outstanding salaries and allowances, and presenting the 2025 budget.
Other relevant matters aimed at resolving the political impasse will also be discussed in the interest of the state.
The meeting is set to take place at 10 a.m. at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
The statement concluded by expressing hope for the lawmakers’ attendance to ensure progress and stability in Rivers State.
