The apex socio-cultural organisation in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has formally absorbed Ibadan Mega Voice (IMV) and three other clubs as its affiliate clubs.
The four clubs include Ibadan Mega Voice (IMV), Ibadan Distinguished Royals Club (IDRC), G 36 Club and Ibadan Royal Businessmen Club.
Our correspondent reports that the four clubs were absorbed into the fold of CCII during the monthly general meeting of CCII on Friday.
The congress was held at Ibadan House located at Oke Aremo in Ibadan North local government area.
The absorption of the four clubs was done in order to enlarge CCII membership.
CCII President – General, Chief Suleiman Ajeniyi Ajewole, absorbed the clubs after they have been inaugurated by the Legal Adviser of the club Professor Ademola Taiwo.
CCII, which was founded in 1982, is the umbrella body of all Ibadan indigenous clubs and has about 236 clubs affiliated to it.
During the meeting Ajewole said that the CCII is ensuring that Ibadan would become a State in the nearest future.
Ajewole therefore urged the newly inaugurated clubs to contribute their quotas to the development of Ibadan.
He called on Ibadan Mega Voice, other affiliate clubs and indigenes to work together to achieve the aim.
He said that the inauguration of the clubs would enable CCII to increase its activities.
“You have been an integral support to CCII, even before your inauguration, and I am certain you will add to the growth of Ibadan land.”
“There is no room for pessimism, cynism or armchair patriotism. Let nobody discourage you from contributing your quota to the development of Ibadan land”.
“We do not want you to be docile members of the club, work with the present administration to ensure Ibadan is promoted at all times. We look forward to seeing you at our general meetings”.
IMV President, Mr. Kola Olomide hailed the Ajewole-led executive for inaugurating the clubs, promising to contribute meaningfully to the Ibadan-project.
