Security operatives in Abia State have apprehended a 21-year-old student of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, over alleged possession of illegal firearms.
The suspect, identified as Chidozie Humble, is a 300-level student in the Department of Animal Breeding and Physiology. He was taken into custody on March 5, 2025, by officers from the Serious Crime Investigation Squad at his residence in Royal Heritage Lodge, Umudike, located in Ikwuano Local Government Area.
In a statement released on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the arrest, stating that weapons were recovered during the operation.
“Recovered from the suspect were three locally made pistols and an English CZECH SCORPION pistol,” Chinaka revealed.
She assured residents that the police remain committed to ensuring security in the state and that investigations are ongoing to track down others involved in the case.
