‘He was bold, articulate’ – Tinubu mourns Okupe

President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Dr. Doyin Okupe, describing him as a courageous and articulate communicator who made significant contributions to Nigeria’s political landscape.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu extended his condolences to Okupe’s family and loved ones following his passing on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the age of 72.

The president noted that Okupe’s death comes at a time when his vast experience and insight would have been highly valuable to the nation.

“President Tinubu remembers Dr. Okupe as a bold and articulate advocate for national development and expresses deep sorrow over his passing at a time when his expertise was still needed,” the statement read.

Tinubu also extended his sympathies to the government and people of Ogun State, particularly the Iperu-Remo community, acknowledging the loss of a distinguished son and leader.

Recognizing Okupe’s impact both within his home state and beyond, the president prayed for the repose of his soul and asked God to comfort his family and all who mourn him.
