Seven injured in factory explosion at quantum steels Nigeria

An explosion at Quantum Steels Nigeria Limited, located along the Ikorodu-Sagamu road in Ogijo, Ogun State, has left seven workers injured.

The incident, which occurred around 7 p.m. on Sunday, involved a blast from one of the factory’s machines.

The victims, all male, include three expatriates. They have been identified as Daniel Bala, 28; Mutiu Olajide, 39; Godwin Solomon, 27; Maduabuchi Onwe, 27; Ajun Kumar, 37; Chandan Kumar, 50; and Rakash Kumar, 30.

The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident on Thursday, stating that it was reported at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday by Joseph Adewale, an employee of the company.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the injured workers were rushed to Rolayo Hospital in Ikorodu, Lagos State, where they are receiving treatment and responding well.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the explosion to determine its cause and ensure compliance with industrial safety regulations.

Odutola assured that the police would work to uncover any lapses that may have contributed to the accident.
