Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has rejected her six-month suspension from the Senate, declaring that the injustice against her “will not stand.”
She made this statement on Thursday before being escorted out of the chamber.
Her suspension followed a series of recent events, starting with a heated argument with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over seating arrangements on February 20.
A few days later, during an interview with Arise News, she claimed that her challenges in the Senate began after she refused alleged sexual advances from Akpabio.
On Wednesday, Akpoti-Uduaghan formally presented a sexual harassment petition against Akpabio in the Senate and resubmitted it again on Thursday during plenary.
However, the Senate Ethics Committee recommended her suspension, citing her heated exchange with the Senate President as the reason.
Despite the decision, Akpoti-Uduaghan has vowed to continue fighting against what she describes as an unfair and unjust action.
