Police investigate woman over alleged murder of co-wife

Must read

The Bauchi State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a 20-year-old housewife who was allegedly murdered in her home on February 28.

Confirming the development on Thursday, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Wakil, said the case was reported on March 3 by a resident of Anguwan Sarakuna, Sale Isa, who found the circumstances surrounding the death suspicious.

He added that family members raised concerns, pointing fingers at the deceased’s co-wife as a possible suspect.

Following the report, the state Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa, assigned a team of detectives from the C Divisional Police Headquarters to investigate the matter.

Their efforts led to the arrest of the deceased’s 28-year-old co-wife, who is now in police custody.

Preliminary findings suggest that the suspect strangled her co-wife to death.

In an attempt to conceal the crime, she allegedly poured boiling water on the body and set it on fire using a melting Bagco sack.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiries.

According to Wakil, the Commissioner of Police has also assembled a team of experienced homicide detectives to gather evidence.

The investigation may include exhumation and forensic analysis to uncover all details surrounding the incident.
