JUST IN: Ikeja electric staff assaulted as armed soldiers invade company offices

Must read

Panic gripped employees of Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company on Thursday as armed military personnel stormed the company’s offices in Lagos, assaulting staff members in a dramatic show of force.

The uniformed officers reportedly forced their way into the company’s headquarters near MITV in Ikeja at around 7:40 a.m.

A similar invasion was reported at the Ikeja Electric office on Ago Palace Way, Okota, Isolo.

A viral video capturing the incident showed several staff members kneeling on the ground while armed soldiers stood over them.

Witnesses alleged that some employees were physically assaulted during the raid.

The invasion came just a day after Ikeja Electric disconnected power supply to the Nigerian Air Force logistics base in Ikeja, sparking speculation that the incident was an act of retaliation.

Terrified employees scrambled for safety as the situation escalated, with many reportedly going into hiding to avoid confrontation with the soldiers.

The development has raised concerns over the safety of power sector workers, with calls for authorities to intervene and prevent further attacks on company staff.
