Armed bandits launched a deadly assault on Sabuwar Tunga, a community in the Adabka ward of Bukkuyum Local Government Area, Zamfara State, on Tuesday, leaving 12 vigilante members dead and kidnapping four residents.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared details of the attack on X, revealing that the gunmen initially met resistance from local vigilantes when they stormed the village.
However, as the vigilantes pursued the attackers into the forest, the assailants reorganized and launched a counterattack.
A security source in the area confirmed the incident, explaining, “The vigilantes initially drove them back, but the bandits later ambushed our men, resulting in the tragic loss of 12 lives.”
After overpowering the vigilantes, the attackers withdrew into the forest, taking four captives with them.
As of now, security agencies have not released an official statement regarding the incident.
