Akpabio: Atanda-Owo criticizes Deputy Chief Whip over response to Natasha’s allegations

Media personality Kikelomo Atanda-Owo has criticized Senate Deputy Chief Whip Onyekachi Nwaebonyi over his response to Senator Natasha Akpoti’s sexual harassment allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Senator Natasha alleged that Akpabio made inappropriate advances toward her during a visit to his residence in December 2023 for his birthday celebration.

She further claimed that a similar incident occurred when she met with him in his office to discuss her motion on the Ajaokuta Steel Company.

In reaction, Senator Nwaebonyi, who was present at the birthday event, dismissed the allegations, insisting that Akpabio did not behave in such a manner.

He suggested that Natasha fabricated the claims out of resentment over the reassignment of her Senate seat.

Speaking on her YouTube program Real Talk With Kike, Atanda-Owo expressed disappointment at the backlash Natasha has received.

She stressed that the senator’s claims go beyond personal grievances, highlighting deeper issues of power abuse within Nigeria’s political landscape.

She also underscored the difficulties women face in male-dominated political spaces.

Atanda-Owo further criticized Nwaebonyi for launching personal attacks instead of addressing the serious nature of the allegations.

She questioned Akpabio’s decision to block Natasha’s motion on the Ajaokuta Steel Company, arguing that governance should take precedence over political rivalries.

She concluded by advising Natasha to remain strategic in navigating political challenges while continuing to advocate for national interests.
