80-year-old trader fatally stabbed during dispute at Ogun market

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the tragic death of an 80-year-old trader, Ladan Bature, who was stabbed to death during a dispute at the Kara Cattle Market, located along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

According to police spokesperson Omolola Odutola, the incident occurred on Monday near the mosque within the market premises.

Bature was reportedly attacked with a knife by a man identified as Haiye Aginni.

Despite efforts by fellow traders and residents to rush him to a hospital, Bature did not survive the injury.

Following a report to the Ojodu Abiodun Police Division, law enforcement officers acted swiftly and arrested the suspect.

The victim’s remains have been moved to the morgue at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu, where an autopsy is expected to be conducted.

Odutola further stated that the case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for a more detailed investigation.
