Wike arrives in Italy for agric, vocational education partnership

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has arrived in Milan, Italy, for a series of official engagements, including a key meeting with the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana.

According to a statement released in Milan on Wednesday by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike departed Abuja on Tuesday night and landed in Milan around 4:30 am, where he was welcomed by Nigeria’s Charge d’Affaires in Italy, Ambassador Mustapha Mohammed.

During his visit, Wike is scheduled to hold discussions with Fontana on Thursday, focusing on fostering collaboration in agriculture and vocational education.

He will also engage with agribusiness investors and vocational training experts to explore new partnership opportunities.

Lombardy, regarded as Italy’s most economically significant region, has a population of approximately 10 million and ranks as the second most populous region in the European Union (EU).

It is also the EU’s second-largest region by nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Accompanying the Minister on the trip are Dr. Danlami Hayyo, FCT Mandate Secretary for Education; Lawan Geidam, Mandate Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development; Dr. Udo Samuel Atang, Senior Special Assistant on Administration; and Barrister Benedict Daudu, Senior Special Assistant on Legal and Multilateral Cooperation.
