The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke for his visit to former Governor and ex-APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande.
APC insisted that the move would not help him navigate the ongoing crisis surrounding the reinstated local government chairmen and councillors.
In a statement issued by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the APC dismissed Adeleke’s visit to Akande’s residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, stating that it would not provide a way out of the leadership turmoil in Osun’s local councils.
“Governor Adeleke and his allies should understand that Pa Akande is a committed democrat who remains loyal to his party. No secret negotiations or backdoor deals can persuade him to act against the APC’s interests,” the statement read.
The party further questioned the governor’s intentions, asking, “Does Adeleke expect Pa Akande to commend him despite his alleged role in the killing of our party members?”
According to the APC, if Adeleke seeks redress following the February 10, 2025, Akure verdict, his appropriate course of action should be to approach the Supreme Court rather than seeking political interventions.
“It makes no sense for a governor linked to violent attacks against opposition members to think he can deceive the people again with such tactics,” the statement added.
Describing Adeleke’s visit as a desperate attempt to salvage a lost cause, the party challenged him to seek legal recourse if he truly believed in his case.
“If he is confident in his claims, why is he hesitant to go to the Supreme Court? His actions resemble a thief begging the rightful owner to surrender their property—it simply won’t happen,” the statement continued.
The APC advised Adeleke to collaborate with the reinstated local government officials to ensure effective governance rather than attempting political maneuvers that are bound to fail.
