The Ebonyi State Police Command has apprehended a suspect, Chigozie Ovuta, in possession of human skulls and illegal firearms.
Ovuta, a resident of the Okoffia community in Ezza South Local Government Area, was caught with two human skulls and three locally made guns.
State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, revealed that the suspect admitted the skulls were intended for ritual purposes.
“During interrogation, Chigozie confessed that he received the human skulls for use in preparing a spiritual concoction. Investigations are ongoing to track down other individuals linked to this case,” Ukandu stated.
In a separate operation, police uncovered a criminal network involved in altering the colors of stolen tricycles from neighboring states.
This led to the arrest of four individuals: Nweke Chukwudi, Nwankwo Obinna, John Abba, and Uche Abba. Three stolen tricycles were recovered from them, with the suspects admitting to modifying the vehicles on behalf of accomplices.
The police have assured that all suspects will be charged in court once investigations are concluded.
The Ebonyi State Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety and urged residents to remain vigilant, reporting any suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.
