Must read

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Babatunde Ogunjimi as the new Accountant General of the Federation, following a thorough selection process.

According to a statement by Presidential Spokesman Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu approved the appointment, which takes effect on March 7, 2025, coinciding with the retirement of the current Accountant General, Oluwatoyin Madehin.

Ogunjimi, 57, was initially announced as Madehin’s successor in December 2024.

His selection came after a competitive and merit-based process involving senior accounting officials in the Federal Civil Service.

The selection committee assessed candidates through three stages: a written examination, an ICT proficiency test, and oral interviews.

The appointment reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to transparency, excellence, and competence in public service.

Ogunjimi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1990), and a Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lagos. He is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.

President Tinubu congratulated Ogunjimi on his new role, urging him to carry out his responsibilities with integrity, professionalism, and dedication to national service.
