The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed earlier reports that former Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), David Parradang, was abducted and murdered.
Authorities have now provided a clearer account of the circumstances surrounding his death.
In a press statement released on March 4, 2025, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, outlined the findings of their investigation.
“At approximately 12:00 PM on March 3, 2025, Mr Parradang arrived at Joy House Hotel, Area 3 Junction, in a black Mercedes Benz and checked in for an overnight stay, making a payment of N22,000,” Adeh stated.
She further disclosed that the deceased later received a female visitor in his hotel room.
“The woman departed around 4:00 PM, after which Mr Parradang did not leave his room,” she added.
Concerned about his well-being, a military officer and friend of the deceased went to the hotel at around 4:00 AM the following day.
“Upon arrival, he and the hotel receptionist accessed the room and found Mr. Parradang lifeless, seated in a chair,” the statement explained.
The Durumi Police Station was immediately notified, prompting officers to secure the area, document the scene with photographs, and collect necessary evidence.
His body was subsequently transported to the National Hospital for further examination.
Meanwhile, hotel staff are cooperating with the investigation, and efforts are ongoing to locate the woman who visited him.
The FCT Police Command urged the public and media to refrain from spreading false reports, particularly claims of kidnapping, which could incite unnecessary panic.
“We appreciate the public’s patience as we conduct a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances of his death,” Adeh concluded.
